Dear
Orchestra Parents,
On
behalf the Duluth High School orchestra, I would like to welcome you to the
DSOA website. DSOA (Duluth String Orchestra Alliance) is the booster club for
the Duluth High School orchestras. DSOA’s
mission is to provide financial and educational support for the members and
directors of the DHS orchestras. Even
though summer has just begun, it is never too early to begin planning for all
of the events coming up in the 2010-2011 school year.
Volunteers
are an integral part of Duluth High School’s fine orchestra program and we have
had some wonderful volunteers over the past years. Some of the volunteer
opportunities for the upcoming school year include:
helping plan this year’s Cow Patty Bingo fundraiser
concert volunteers
planning the end of the year banquet
data entry for our online registration system.
We are
in desperate need of more board members, including Public Relations
and Fund-raising Coordinator. The job responsibilities
for each position are:
Public Relations – advertise upcoming
fundraisers, concerts, achievements and honors in local newspapers and monthly newsletter.
Fundraiser Coordinator – help co-chair
Cow Patty Bingo committee and locate business sponsors.
The DSOA
board meets one Thursday a month.
If you are interested in any of these available positions, please email me at duluthorchestra@gmail.com.
Registration forms will be mailed home in July.
You may either mail completed forms to the address below, bring them to the orchestra table at DHS on
registration day, or complete them online. (Online registration links will be
ready in July). In addition, this year
you may also pay for uniforms, cello/bass rentals and membership fees online. (beginning in July).
Membership
fees are tax deductible. All DSOA
members (and immediate family) receive free admission to every concert.
DSOA membership fees and Cow Patty Bingo are the main source of support for our
Duluth High School orchestra. You may
see a copy of our proposed 2010-2011 budget here. The proposed budget will be voted on at a
meeting of DSOA members. (Date in August to be announced).
The Duluth String Orchestra Alliance is recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the Duluth High School Orchestra program. Contributions to the orchestra programs may be tax deductible as provided by law.
Thank you again for your support of the Duluth High School Orchestra program. We look forward to working with you and your student this year. If you have any questions, please email me at duluthorchestra@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Jennifer Helfrich
DSOA President
